Friday 8 September 2017 - Bar again
The plans for seeing Montenegro have got very complicated. The problem is weather. The yachtsman from Montenegro told us
that the weather report shows a terrible storm coming in on Monday and Tuesday
with 30-45 knots of wind. The weather
report is also for continuous rain on Saturday. So we must find somewhere to shelter unless we stay here for
a week, which is very dull. There
is an inland sea we wanted to visit called the bay of Kotor. In it we are advised is the most luxurious
marina in the world. So the plan
was to go there this morning after filling with fuel. We sent them an e-mail to make sure it was OK. But weather intervened. It started to pour with rain in the
middle of the night with tremendous lightening and thunder. That continued until morning and showed
no sign of abating. So, we decided
not to leave. Who wants to motor 7
or 8 hours in pouring rain and thunder storms?
The rain continued in bucket loads until 3pm today. Then surprisingly the sun came
out. So we ran off to do some food
shopping as I am still using the supplies bought in Corfu before we left! We tried to get laundry done, but the
lady who does it here does not have a dryer and with the rain could not dry the
clothes. At one stage it was said
that this weather would continue until Tuesday! But no, we hope there will be a respite on Sunday when we
will go to Porto Montenegro. We
will be there at some expense for probably 3 days. If the weather is rubbish we may hire a car. That is if we can. The pilot book, which has been wrong on
most details says you need an International Drivers License to rent a car, but
the staff in the Marina say this is not correct. We shall see.
So it looks like another day here.
Hope we can find something to do to fill the time. I did expect the weather to deteriorate
near the end of September, but not now!
