Monday 4 September 2017 – Marina di Orikum

We are still here.  We enquired about a taxi to an archeological site, but it was going to cost 50 or 60 Euros, so we decided it wasn’t worth it.  So it has been just a day of rest here in the middle of nowhere.  There is a beach down the road where we found a quite good restaurant for lunch.  We shared a bowl of clams, very well cooked and Truffle and Porcini mushroom ravioli.  Certainly the best food we have come across here.  Most of the food is very like Greek food, but not as well prepared.

Anyway, nothing really to report.  Just forgot to put in to yesterday’s blog a rather curious thing that happened.  On Saturday when we went ashore in the dinghy we found four little fish that had jumped into it and died there.  They must have come in when we were towing the dinghy behind us.  Then yesterday we found another two fish in the gunwales of the boat.  We don’t think they were flying fish.  Just must have come in on waves (of which there were a lot yesterday).  They were slightly larger than whitebait, but smaller than sardines.  Very silvery.  They left a lot of scales behind.

We are now just about to get the boat ready to leave literally at the crack of dawn tomorrow.  We are going to Dures, which is 60 miles away and we need to get there in daylight.  So it is a best of luck job.
