Sunday 25 June 2017 – Trizonia

Not much to say really.  We decided to stay here on the island one more day.  In the morning we did the walk around the island.  The idea was to do it before it got too hot.  Well, it did get hotter in the afternoon but the morning was pretty hot as well.  On the way we saw a half built villa for sale.  900,000 Euros in the present state; 1,500,000 Euros completed.  That seemed just a bit optimistic to me. No fear of us making an offer.

We then went to the little beach, which isn’t much of a thing in the town.  It is stony and small.  But the water was deliciously cool, much needed.  We had lunch on the boat and were going to go back to the beach when we decided just to swim off the boat.  As we are alongside we can access the rear bathing ladder.  So we spent the afternoon going in and out of the sea next to the boat.


Afternoon ice cream in the town and then dinner.  All very laid back.  Tomorrow we head to Patras where we hope to get all the domestics done.

The weather certainly did improve today.   The sun has been shining all day and it even felt warm.   With the better weather my view of the marina has improved.   The best thing is that we have found toilets and showers only 50 yards away!   They are a bit tired, but we had heard that.   They seem perfectly functional and certainly will make our life a lot easier. We have decided to spend the day sorting the boat out.   We start at the marina office where we try to get a further discount for being a member of the Cruising Association.   As we suspected because we got a 10% discount on the bill for a Boat Show special they are unwilling to give another discount.   Fair enough.   We speak to someone about the maintenance work we want done over the winter.   We need to send him an e-mail with the full details and he will get in touch with the appropriate tradesmen. Monday 11 September 2017 – Porto Montenegro

Up fairly early.   Went to the toilet block.    There is still no hot water.   The weather doesn’t seem so bad and for a few minutes Richard contemplates setting off from here today.   But the forecast is bad, so we stay put.   The marina office sends a golf trolley to us to take us to the showers on the other side of the marina where there is hotish water. We finally joined the washed of the world.   We have a leisurely morning trying without much success to download the Times.   We finally succeed and decide to take a walk into Tivat (the local town). We discover there two supermarkets, and a proper market selling fruit and veg and fresh fish.   We also make it to the tourist office where we get details on how to catch the bus to Kotor.   We shall probably do that tomorrow if we are still stuck here. I stop at a Slam shop and buy myself a new waterproof jacket.   My Quba sail’s one is no longer properly waterproof and given the current weather I don’t feel like relying on it

Sunday 24 September 2017 – ACI Marina Simuni, Pag Island

The forecast this morning seemed OK.   There was suggestion that there might be a light shower, but nothing too bad.   So we decided to set out as soon as possible.   We left our nice mooring at 8:15 and set out to go to what looks like a delightful anchorage which is really a passage between two islands.   It is only 25 miles away and we should get there by lunchtime, so I haven’t made anything to eat under way, The day starts out nice enough.   The wind is very light, but from behind.   So we put up the sails in the hope that it will help us get a bit more speed on.   All seems to be going well until about noon, when the sky turns a very funny shade of Wedgewood blue and we can see rain coming out of the clouds in the direction we are going.   Perhaps the original view that Sunday was going to be wet and windy was right after all.
