Wednesday 30 August 2017 – Corfu
So the season starts again.
We flew into Corfu last night.
It was a more eventful trip than we had planned. Firstly we tried to pay for some lunch
with our main credit card and it was declined. We got to the lounge and phoned the bank to discover that
someone had been fraudulently using our card charging many transactions all
over the USA. We haven’t been
there for over 5 months, so it is really odd this occurred now. Anyway the upshot of it is that our
main card has been stopped and we are not home to get a new one. So we will have to use a debit card and
other credit cards, which is a pain.
Also our flight was delayed 40 minutes because of some trouble with the
landing gear. However, that was
fixed and we took off and landed safely, if late. We met someone else on the plane who was coming to the
Marina so we shared a taxi which saved a little money,
Today was very hot. I need
time to aclimatise. The boat was
quite well cleaned (a few minor irritants). The laundry was picked up from the lady I left it with last
July and we hired a car to buy tons of drinks and provisions. We had an afternoon by the swimming
pool. And went to the Old Corfu Town for dinner.
We have checked out of Greece in preparation for heading to Albania
tomorrow. I am a bit nervous, but
Richard assures me it is fine. We
are trying to get in touch with an agent to check us in on arrival and find us
a berth (as the port of call we are going to has no formal arrangements for
private yachts). Apparently that
is what all of Albania except for one marina is like. Should be “interesting”.
We are short on internet access, so I am not sure when this will be
posted and don’t know if we will get any internet in Albania. Again, we shall see.
